So many announcements I can’t even keep up. I’m going to have to spend the next few weeks streaming all the sessions I wasn’t able to attend and try and absorb all of this. Kubernetes built into vSphere! I can dig it. It’s another super busy day between working the booth and hanging with customers and partners with events all over town. Let’s check out the day in pictures!
VMworld 2019 Tuesday
VMworld is always so crazy and Tuesday is usually the most of it. This year wasn’t any different. As usual I started off my day sifting through the many pictures I’d taken the day before. As noted previously I just flat ran out of time to get all my commentary and posts done during the week of VMworld so I’ve had to follow up after the fact and get this post done.Another bustling day in San Francisco. The weather was nice and people were scrambling to sessions at Moscone Center.Today for lunch we ate at the Tropisueno Tacqueria. I had several customers and partners with me and we all enjoyed a nice light lunch after the heavy eating and drinking the last few days. This is Yerba Buena park that sites on top of Moscone South and connects to the Metreon mall. There was surprising amount of VMworlders just hanging out in the park. I made it back to the Solutions Exchange and got to work the booth again. Today I’m talking about HPE Nimble Storage dHCI. It was really fun talking to customers about our latest products. It’s hard to tell from the pictures but it’s way busier today than it has been.
SAIC incorporates HPE technology into their vehicle to support the IoBT, Internet of Battefield Things. Check out more about it here. Here’s a panorama of my view from the booth.I ran over to the VMworld Alumni Lounge to get my pin and caught all the people walking around between sessions. I finally got a cleaner shot of the VMworld sign.I also got someone to take one of me with the sign.
I’m heading back to the booth here and it’s still really busy.I took a quick pano of the area at the entrance.Shortly after I got back to the booth it started getting packed as you can see in this panorama. Here’s the digital rack. Really neat way to visualize options in a rack. Here’s the other side of the booth that’s the presentation and it’s packed as well.Hey there’s Calvin Zito, the HPE Storage Guy. He laughed a little when I asked to grab a picture.Look there that’s the one and only Joe Montana in the booth!
This panorama shows how much crazier the booth got when Joe showed up.I got a quick photo with Sandeep Singh, VP of Storage Marketing at HPE and Bhrath Ram dropping in behind us.Ok so this one sucked. He was looking and got pulled another direction when I tried to take this shot. Some serious hardware there. HPE Nimble Storage, HPE 3PAR and Synergy frames galore. This is another shot of an HPE Primera 650 with some disk shelves.Joe was checking out the SAIC vehicle. The booth staff team got to take photos with Joe Montana. I even got in on the action later. We had an event at Fogo De Chao, one of my favorite resteraunts.Joe Montana came by for a few minutes and took a few more pictures with the crowd. It later got twice as packed as it is now.We quickly found out if we wanted any of the good stuff we had to stand near the door they came out of because everything was getting picked off right as they exited this kitchen. The crowds are gone and the Moscone Center is empty.San Francisco at dusk. This is a different angle from Yerba Buena park.I got to attend the VMware vExpert party again this year held at SPiN. A neat little place with ping pong tables all over and a decent bar.
Right as I walked in I saw Pat Gelsinger, VMware CEO. I got in line and was able to get a picture with him again. It’s was pretty well attended as you can see. I wish I knew more people here. I talked to the handful of friends I did know and met some new people as well. We got a shot all together towards the end of the party.
I met several customers and partners here at The Masonic where the Veeam party was being held. The lines were long and I was losing patience just getting a drink.Neat venue even though it was busy.It was packed inside and outside.I can’t explain how annoying the seizure inducing glasses and hats were. I wanted to leave almost immediately. Then the headlining act came out. I had never heard of Andy Grammer before. Not a bad musician or singer but definitely wasn’t my cup of tea. This is the Grace Cathedral. It looked amazing at night which is why you’re seeing it here.We made it to the dueling piano bar again. It was another fun time had by all.I ended the night with a panorama of the piano bar. That’s Tuesday at VMworld 2019! I’d like to say this is where the night ended but it didn’t. I won’t share the details though so as to protect the innocent. Let’s just say some people had more fun than others LOL. Stay tuned for my Wednesday post and thanks for reading!
What is going on in that one rack picture. Are those monitors in a rack to simulate the gear layout? Why is there a Windows dialog box over the pic?
Yeah it allowed them to change to different layouts and visualize what different options there are. I would guess someone changed the layout and right clicked or something.
